Our
free community vision screening program is designed to provide early
detection of some common conditions and diseases as well as
increasing the awareness of treatable ocular disease. It is
particularly aimed at people who have not had their eyes tested for
ocular disease before. The main conditions that we are able to
screen for are: optical error (the need for glasses), cataracts,
glaucoma, age macular degeneration (ARMD) or severe diabetic
retinopathy. Screening involves testing vision (visual acuity),
checking intraocular pressure, and taking a digital retinal
photograph without pupil dilating drops being necessary. The results
are then analysed by our medical staff and a recommendation made
regarding need for follow-up. This screening service does not
replace a comprehensive eye examination. Please contact the clinic
for further information.
